A simple solution to the migration crisis

I was thinking about this on the way into Reading this morning & I'm not actually aware of such a proposal ever being made before so there must be a flaw.

I'll leave it to you lot to point it out.

    1) The international community seizes a tract of land somewhere & declares it international territory.

    2) The territory is administered by the UN or suchlike and all member nations contribute to its upkeep and there will be an adequate level of healthcare, education etc.

    3) Any undesirables arriving on our shores with no papers are immediately deported to this place where they will be free to remain at their leisure.

    Good idea or what?

I thought this one was going to last a bit longer.

      I was wrong.

I seem to remember the international community seizing some land in the Middle East to make into a home for some people. Does anybody know how that's going? Any trouble with the locals?
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

The French are proposing something along those lines, I read today, as discussed in a high level French Government meeting recently...

"If this mythical place is to be run by the UN, that should be reflected in the name, so United something would seem a good place to start" suggested one.
"United what though?" asked another. Republic was suggested, but it was pointed out that the French don't seem to be having much luck with that, they're on their fifth to date, so not going terribly well then.
"How about Democratic?" "Too socialist, even for us, we're in North Korean and East German territory here".
So how to make the new migrants feel a bit more important when they enter this new mythical land?
"How about calling it a Kingdom?"
"Brilliant idea. We shall call it the United Kingdom".
"Er, there's already a United Kingdom. It's that lot over there who don't want anything to do with us anymore".
"Great, we'll send them all there then".

                Stranger things have happened...
His heart is in the right place - shame we can't say the same about his brain...

Would that be the land that they were forcibly evicted from centuries earlier?

There was also Liberia, founded (I think) after the US civil war.
