With a rich twist of irony the outcome was brought about by

The name of a parasitic wasp, a small canoe-like boat and a type of flower all helped a British recruitment consultant win the World Scrabble Championship.

Change "Parasitic" to "Parasite", drop the "wasp" and "British recruitment consultant" as those words in the headline are superfluous (66 points)

I've never questioned the intelligence (or otherwise) of recruitment consultants, but I think it's indisputable that the vast majority are amoral sociopaths.

I have been doing an hour or two each night coming up to this and I also reviewed all seven and eight letter words in the English dictionary
If only all agents can put that much effort in reading CVs, I wouldn't be getting e-mails about exciting windows fitter or SharePoint migration lead opportunities.

Sorry, but learning long lists of obscure words without understanding - or even bothering to look up - their meanings and application is not a sign of intelligence.

Did the agent ask the other guy for two references everytime he put a word down?
