    Refilled cartridges are OK. Cartridges that have an incompatible chip are not.

    Give it a month at the most and the manufacturers will have working cartridges again.

      They already have, they just haven't ramped up production yet.

      The interesting bit is how this was billed by HP. If they pushed out a firmware upgrade without getting the owners permission to install it first and without making clear what the implications of doing so were then there could be trouble for them down the line.

      Knowing HP they probably buried it in the small print somewhere below the first paragraph, thus ensuring no-one would bother to scroll down and read it.
