    Interims

Might seem a daft question but does the word 'Interim' in the job title make any difference to anything. As contractors are we not all in effect interims due to the temporary nature of our roles ?

Context matters. For example, an interim manager is someone that fills in, temporarily, for a permanent role. Clearly, this is completely different that a contractor providing expert consultancy for which no permanent role exists, or would ever exist (e.g. because it's not core business). Interim is synonymous with temporary, but that in itself doesn't mean much.

          Yampy, yampy, yampy.

You've realised your mistake already. You've posted in General. Should've posted in the Business/Contracts section. Interim may refer to the role or the person, something which you will need to clarify; as a contractor as Interim CIO, you'd probably have little say over long-term strategy but look at keeping the ship running until a permanent CIO is found.
