    Why Shaunbhoy is so miserable

Bringing up each child costs £180,137

Makes buying a house seem quite reasonable in comparison.

    PS.

In the last year alone, the cost of raising offspring has risen by 9%, said research from financial services provider Liverpool Victoria.
And inflation is still just over 2% is it?

You have to understand that we only use items of relevance to real people and Britain's hard working families to calculate headline inflation rates, so that's, errr, tins of baked beans and Playstations. Troublesome inflationary items such as council tax, energy bills, childcare and property costs, which are clearly only going to impact a minority, are excluded in the interests of fairness.

    Gordon Brown.
