    Need help with my homework

Does anyone know anything about using reporter genes in experiments to identify gene promoter regions?

Too lazy to read the book, assignment due tomorrow.

Need to identify if a region upstream from a gene contains a transcriptional repressor or transcriptional activator sequence based on the amount of light emitted from a reporter gene inserted into the sequence. Got a choice of low to high light emission or high to low light emission. My hunch is low to high = activator, high to low = repressor but I have to explain why.

Well I guessed and handed it in. That'll do. It's not a grade affecting assignment, just need to hit at least 40%
