US man pays tax bill using five wheelbarrows of coins - BBC News

A US businessman in dispute with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has paid his $3,000 tax bill using five wheelbarrows containing 300,000 coins.

Nick Stafford from Cedar Buff, Virginia, delivered so many coins that the DMV's automated counting machines could not cope with the volume.

      2p coins - 20 pence
      5p - up to £5
      10p - up to £5
      20p - up to £10
      50p - up to £10
£1 coins and above - any amount

Yup. There is that video going round where the guy pays a fine for taking his kids out of school in coppers. I'd love to know the outcome. I hope they refused the payment and he had to go pick it all back up and then lose 15% of it by using one of them machines in the Supermarkets to change it.

Did he get the wheelbarrows back or did he factor the cost of them into the fine?
