"Instead, the government has decided that vote leave meant vote hard Brexit. Philip Hammond is now saying Britain might become an Atlantic Singapore. He told Welt am Sonntag that if Britain was left closed off from European markets, it would consider abandoning the European-style social model, with ‘European-style taxation systems, European-style regulation systems’ and ‘become something different’."

What a betrayal. The Brexit camp want more money for hospitals, social care etc. That was a core reason for leaving, as advertised by camp Wrexit. Now as we race to the bottom by cutting taxes we'll have even less money for a basic services.

This is a lesson that needs teaching, only when we reach the bottom of this protectionist bucket will we realise going it alone is not possible in a globalised world.

You have no idea whatsoever what the "Brexit Camp" want, and little more idea about what Remain want either.

You base your random gibberish solely on what "Camp Scooterscot" wants, and that is to maintain the status quo.

At least have the courage to admit it.

I love the way you skirt over the issues.
The fact is the Tory right is using Brexit to promote their own agenda of removing workers rights so they can make more profit.
What is this alternative model of which Hammond speaks?
Hint: It's not a better NHS, better education, better workers rights and higher wages, is it?

It's good that rags such as the Spectator give opposing views an airing, unlike most of the left wing tabloids.

The Government has stated that all current EU rules etc would be adopted by the UK on leaving and then only overturned by Parliament at a later date. So the nonsense about worker rights can be dismissed out of hand.

Would staying in the single market under control of the ECJ and paying into the EU coffers mean we would have left the EU? I can't see how it would. Just desperation from the Remnant brigade.

The EU is starting to acknowledge we have the upper hand in negotiations. The IMF has upped it's forecast for us again. Other countries are being positive about us.

You guys need to get on board or you are going to be left floundering in your indignation.

              True.
And the people (Brexiters and Renmainers) are going to be very disappointed by their fall in living standards.

"Floundering" is what they do best. After all, most of them are bottom-feeding intellectual pygmies.

Scared of their own shadows, never mind much needed radical change of any flavour.
