£50m of cocaine found on Norfolk beaches - BBC News (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-38934738)

Oh look, £50M worth of cocaine is washed up on the beach and I'm the only person here at 5am in the morning walking my dog. I know I'll ring the police and wait for them to come and say thanks.

Great detective work there by the NCA.

"This is obviously a substantial seizure of class A drugs and its loss will represent a major blow to the organised criminals involved."

360kg's wouldn't keep Brighton going for a Day let alone London.

Back in the early 90's when I was still a fairly youngish university student, I knew someone who told me about a judge he knew that found 10 KG, in very similar circumstances.
I believe he took 6 or 8 and left the rest there. He was a little worried about taking the wooden crate, as he thought it might have a tracker in it.

The story was widely known and the knock out grade "Pink Peruvian" flake was widely consumed by some students at the university for almost 2 years after :eyes

I think it's fair to say he under estimated the market. Could have sold that in SW1 by midnight.

Maybe it is a member of the public who recognizes the harm that drugs can cause, and wants to try to reduce this.

That or they didn't want to take the very low risk of being caught

I think you mind find selling 50m worth quite challenging. You'd end up dead or in prison.

I'd be lying if I said the thought had never occurred to me (that and bringing in migrants from France), but no it would be too easy to get caught. You have to log every returning flight with customs, to allow them to turn up to check you out if they like.

If you brought a child migrant and got caught we would have to start a free the "GJABS one" campaign....

Reminds me of a Two Ronnies joke announcement: "Would the owner of a £50 million cocaine consignment please come to the lost property office, where a man who was smoking it has just been handed in.."
