Has wearable tech had its day?

    Did it have a day?
Other than a calculator watch I had in the seventies( maybe eighties) I never really saw the point.

Anybody go in for wearable tech.?
No Suity, that tag on your ankle doesn't count.....

It never had its 'day' in the first place.

Apple watch - the wrong name for a start. Had they stuck with something without a screen loaded with health sensors. No they had to reinvent the wheel. Steve would never have let it leave the lab.

Fitbit got off to a good start. The right name for a start. Then they decided to follow apple, and making health monitoring into notification centre. Idiots. Now their stock is sinking faster than the titanic.

Wearable tech has a place, I like to know if I'm sleeping the hours needed for me, my health. But a smaller version of my phone so I don't have to reach into my pocket?

Apple died when Steve did, the Watch, the latest Macbook pro. Hopefully they'll find the right direction before the money runs out.

For us old farts who lose something nearly every week, having a GPS tracker on everything we carry or wear would be great.

Seriously, not sure what the point of Fitbit etc is. I find a pedometer is good to record time actually spent walking/running, your watch does not take account of stops to look at the view, check the map, have a quick pee etc. but gave up bothering about calories, steps, distance.

I don't think it's had its day. I think we are at the start, health monitoring will only improve and I can see it becoming a normal thing to have. Perhaps we won't have them on our wrists but will be on/in our body.

Few years time I can see something like the Hololens becoming the norm, obviously a much smaller light weight version.

I've tried a few wearable and the fitbit is probably the best for every day use, but still they are really limited. But that's going to improve.

For health reasons, I've just started with a cheap £15 pedometer, with heart rate monitor and sleep measuring. Oh, it also gives me the time as well. It's an unbranded version of a Yamay that came out will it consumer tests.

Seems OK, does what it's supposed to do and apparently can connect to Google Fit.

I use my Pebble Time for my normal wear, and I do miss it when I've not got it on. Non-normal wear, I go back to my Omega.

I find it convenient to be able to glance at my watch and see who is ringing / emailing / sending me messages rather than needing to get my phone out. Plus I can delete an email from my watch without needing to open the email like I do on my phone.

I have a Vivofit 2 love it. Steps, heart rate & sleep + watch. Needs alarms.

It was as always hype before sense. But I suspect that niche markets will stay. Virtual reality warehouse picker and of course porn.

I wear a Casio digital watch. I love it. Tells me the time; the date. Can use it as an alarm. Everything you want from wearable tech.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Got a fitbit surge which measures heart rate and tells me calories i've burnt during the day.

While I'm trying to lose weight it's really helpful to see how a small walk into town rather than get a bus can burn 200+ calories etc
