FPS (freelance professional services (umbrella company)

    Hi
I'm looking to appoint an umbrella company as I'm a public sector contractor, being forced out of using my own ltd.

I've been looking around and come across FPS, so can other contractors who are/have used FPS give some feedback on them please.

Same applies for I-PAYE also looking at them.

    Thanks

Look at the advice here: Choosing a legitimate umbrella

Thanks been looking at that thread & just going through the top rated companies.
I guess it all boils down to price.

Wrong. It boils down to who's best. If they are cheapest then double bargain

Personally I choose not to trade with companies HQ'd in the Isle of Mann, just saying.

Funny you should say that in a way. I have been looking recently at a nice apartment in Douglas. So, if you had a nice little job and you engaged me, then you wouldn't be happy if I had an IoM Ltd company, even if I lived there?

I think there's a bit of a slight difference between being an IoM tax resident and pretending to be one...

I remember a thread where an IoM contractor was having EXACTLY that problem...

Some specialist contractor accountants (ahem!) have designed a flexible product in response to this where the contractor can dip in and out of using their PSC and an Umbrella arrangement flexibly and as it suits them.

There is only one fee for this and the PSC would be maintained in the background (effectively free of charge) during periods when the Umbrella function is used.

                    Hi there,

FPS have been providing umbrella administration services for over 20 years. Whilst we have an office in the Isle of Man, the umbrella companies we administer are all UK companies with UK banking arrangements – you could pick our office up and move it to Manchester with no change to our services, although our staff would probably want a pay rise for the extra commuting costs.

Our umbrella solution is extremely simple and compliant (some might say vanilla even) - we don’t want to risk you getting tax bills because we have played fast and loose with interpretations of legislation. Instead, we focus on customer service, ensuring everyone has a named point of contact that will look after them throughout their time working with us. If you want to see what we are like, have a look at the good, the bad and the ugly independent reviews on Feefo. This will give you a good reflection of what we do and how we work. We have over 450 customer reviews to date - Reviews

It may also be pertinent to know that agencies pay all funds in to a Client Account, which is held outside of our company finances. This means that your wages never come in to our beneficial ownership, so in the extremely unlikely event of us going in to administration, your money could not be used to repay our creditors. Feel free to ask any other umbrella company how they can guarantee that your funds could never be used in this way.

I have worked at FPS for many years, as have the vast majority of our staff. We are a family owned, friendly and reliable bunch. Give us a call and we will happily talk you through what we do and how we work.

                    All the best
                    Matt
