Tories to 'simplify' tax system for self-employed

    Page 16 (paraphrased):

Our tax system is too complicated, especially for the self-employed and small businesses. We will therefore simplify the tax system.

Sounds like a good idea, right?.....

Just a slight curveball here but I don't mind betting they'll be portraying freelancers and contractors as "victims" of the gig economy and in their munificence will enact legislation to ensure we're all brought under the proective wing of the state.

Have run various small businesses for 40 years and being a contractor I can tell you that the Tories have never been the party for small business. The Tories have done everything to stifle small business and favour large businesses. If they wanted to simplify tax they have had ample time and opportunity to do so.

Any change will be a change for the worse.

            Wot? Nick Labour's idea? Probably.

Whatever "simplification" it is, you can bet on two things.
            1) It'll be more bureaucratic and complicated
            2) It'll result in more tax

                  Yep.

Then they realised it would look like they are raising income tax.

Like they did not know it from start...

It just the usual lie from politician - Osborne set it up with a view to report at the end of Parliament, if he fooking meant it to work then he'd demand they report within months
