              Standard procedure, unfortunately. They've lost 3 days revenue, and someone has to pay. It's why I got a $600 late return bill for a hire car at LAX. The fact that the return date was September 12th 2001 should give you a clue: the airport was completely closed and road access was controlled by the US Army, and the only planes flying overhead were USAF F-whatevers, either way, it didn't cut any ice. Travel insurance ran a mile the minute terrorism got mentioned. So ultimately a $5k holiday became a $7k holiday.
