Drove past Greenfell tower this morning

Slightly sobering moment, lots of flowers & best wishes.

Seem to be lots of anger at the mistreatment of the down trodden working class, not outright anger at a building regulations system that isn't fit for purpose.

    Class struggle versus reality..

At the moment what went wrong in Grenfell tower(and other towers is not known).

However there is a general feeling that inequality is growing and people are pushing back. Like Brexit.

        Interesting...
The Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Bill would have updated a law introduced in the 19th century that requires homes under a certain rent limit to be “fit for human habitation”.

That rent limit has not been updated since 1957, however, and the rule currently applies to all properties with an annual rent of below £80 in London and £52 elsewhere.

That and the people most affected are the ones least able to "vote with their feet".

Prius drivers in London tend to be Uber cabs.

95 towers are now a fire risk - linky

Theresa May has called for a "major national investigation" after results showed cladding on 95 buildings has now failed tests being undertaken in the wake of the Grenfell Tower disaster.

The Prime Minister made the proposal at cabinet on Tuesday, after hearing how every single piece of cladding tested so far on buildings from 32 different local authorities has been found to be potentially dangerous.
Regulator NHS Improvement has also warned staff to check hospital claddings, following fears the combustible type may have been fitted to health service buildings.

I've heard rumours that the flat where the fire started was being used to grow cannabis, and a grow light overheated.

But even if that is true, we'll almost certainly never be told. Much easier to blame Hotpoint for a mysterious incendiary fridge.

Also, apparently the guy who lived in the flat has gone AWOL (with or without the Government's connivance).
