    Business Electricity Contracts

Had to renew my business electricity contract today (most of you disguised employee types may need to look that up).

SSE, who are my current supplier, made me the very kind offer of a chance to subscribe to their 'new 100% renewable contract' where I would be guaranteed that all my electricity came from either wind or hydro, and all I would have to do would be to pay about 30% more on my contract tarriff. I thought about it and then told her to f**k off.

Why are you buying your electricity from a Spanish supplier? Feck me is there nothing that's made in Britain anymore?!

Price on standard was about 12% higher than previous contract (priced 2 years ago), but renewable was 30% higher than that.

Only 12%? That's good news, I am expecting far bigger increases. Did renewable cost less than standard before?

SSE are Scottish, are they not? Headquartered in Perth.

You might be thinking of ScottishPower, a subsidiary of Iberdrola.

Of the big six, SSE and British Gas are British, EDF is French, Scottish Power is Spanish, E.ON and NPower are German.

Of course, most of the power is 'made in Britain', but unfortunately the profits are not kept in Britain. Maybe after Brexit we can have rules regarding foreign ownership of our utilities?

Jeez you Brexiters are complete morons. NOt to say confused.
Being open to foreign ownership is entirely an ideological Tory free-market supposedly non-socialist very British thing. IN the rest of Europe they're nowhere near as stupid.
                Hard Brexit now!
