Fox in the penguin enclosure and lying staff

    oh dear - linky

Zoo staff at Chessington World of Adventures have been accused of lying to customers after it emerged eight of its penguins were slaughtered by a fox.

Visitors to the zoo have been greeted by a cordoned off 'Penguin Bay' after the incident at the end of June, and were told it was because of 'remodelling'.

But they have now said a savage 'urban fox' killed the bir. ds, with one source claiming it happened when the penguins were not being monitored correctly.
Not sure how a fox following it's nature can be savage/ Did someone not lock the enclosure properly?

Aaah! Poor little Pingwings! After reading some other current threads I think we should debate whether it was a terrorist act.

Wild animals should not be kept in zoos.

As for what the fox did, it's only natural.

You mean by a member of staff who was a fox lover?

They have no natural predators so we need to find a way of controlling them. Oh, wait...

Foxes have several natural predators. Eagles are one.
Wolves are predators of them, but they've been wiped out in the UK, thus affecting the balance of nature.
Badgers used to predate them, but then the government is working on wiping them out.
...and they want to bring back fox hunting to get rid of all the foxes.

The solution, according to the Untelligencia, is to kill off all wild animals, wild birds, wild insects, etc, and then everything will be perfect.

How can penguins be the natural prey of foxes?
Fox are indiscriminate killers when given the chance. The problem is that Townies don't see enough wild life so any is welcome. If more put bells on their cats they'd see more birds for a start.
