Early release after getting 800 years ??

Murdered 3 people, injured over 60 and then sentenced to 800 years – just to be released early after serving just 12 years (where have we heard this before) due to some government “deal”

OK so that is history – now after attempting to murder another 5 people the powers that be have finally realised that this man should be locked up for the rest of his life – hence the resumption of the 800 year sentence.

This man should never have been released in the first place - but I expect that he will be out after five.

Don't agree. Most times when an end to civil wars or conflicts are negotiated you get amnesties or pardons, often of some pretty nasty people. There was a more important consideration, the chance of an end to the wider violence and it was the right choice.

Yep. And two big reasons for locking people up are the deterrent factor, and to protect society. If these people consider themselves soldiers following the leaders' orders, and the leaders have announced a cease fire, then there's no threat and no-one to deter.

In princple yes, but when HMG signed the GFA they gave away far too much in return for sweet FA.

There is a very good reason to have capital punishment, this guy is that reason!

Yes - an end to the sectarian troubles and the never ending circle of violence was SFA.

It was worth taking the chance, even for the worst caes like this one.

They could just cut off his head and freeze it. Taht way when we have future technology to enable us to live for hundreds of years we can reanimated him, let him serve the remainder of his sentance and then loose him on the future population to wreak havoc once more (Only this time with bionic implants!!!)
