My quick review:

- FF 57 it is genuinely much faster than FF 56 or any other version I remember.
- it breaks many add-ons but important ones like Ublock Origin still work
- as per, they have fiddled with the UI for no reason, including following the absurd "flat" design trend.
- Firefox was a very underrated movie.

The only thing I don't like about Firefox Quantum is the way the background shows through the blurred opaque area at the top in full screen mode.

I mean it's called full screen for a reason, not "slightly leaky" full screen. :tantrum:

It's quicker but fecks up too many essential plugins :mad

I use the following add-ons which are still supported in FF 57:

tiddlywiki saver
Ublock origin
Tree style tab

but the following is sadly not supported, and unlikely to be.

Sage RSS reader.

It works the same as IE and Chrome, but you have to think in Russian

All browsers I've tried are crap for one reason or another. IE kept crashing, then Edge stopped working with Trusteer, now I find Chrome keeps accessing cached pages even when you do refresh. May try FF again but last time I did it was slow.

Planning a visit there, as it's only a few hundred yards from clientco.

I got lost the other night, driving back from the Toby Carvery in Whitchurch (highly recommended!), and ended up in Dundry which someone mentioned here a week or two ago.

Flip me, what a monstrous hill to get there - At the top, the view north eastwards over Bristol at night with all the city lights makes it seem one is in a airplane!

If they were essential they'd be built in.

yeh, this.
update yout plugins.
any OS or browser upgrade would need this anyway'
windoze based stuff is never properly downward compatible.

if the ISV's who supply the plugins don't keep up, then you're fecked.
that's the world of micro's

Thanks very much chaps.

New FF is substantially quicker for me than Chrome on my 6 year old MB Air w/Sierra.

I like it.
