I have a question about the NVS/BPSS process for SC clearance, re. the BoE.
In a contract role at the moment w/ a financial company, occasionally have to go to BoE premises to carry out work. I've been asked to submit an application to kick off the NVS/BPSS process for SC clearance so I can go to BoE locations occassionaly.
I'm a foreign national, not British - have an EU and US passports and even applied/received the UK perm residence permit (just to hedge my bets with Brexit), been in the UK for the last 15 years, prior to that was in another EU country for a number of years.
I understand that the fact I'm a foreign national in itself doesn't preclude me from getting SC clearance. How far back does the search go? What kind of search do they do abroad?
Although my credit here in the UK and EU country is excellent, own property, no brushes with the law, super rating etc. Model citizen, etc... in the US it is a different story. My credit history in the US is disastrous, defaulted student loans, credit cards etc - albeit no criminal records or anything of the sort. I've not lived there in about 20-someodd years though, no intention of going back, life, family and relatives are all in the UK.
