    Today I saw a very confused driver on the road

    Traffic lights were under repair, and policeman/women guided the traffic. That driver (UK registration) had absolutely no idea about the signals. In the german driver´s school you learn a little verse that goes "siehst Du Brust und Rücken, mußt Du auf die Bremse drücken" That means, if you see front or back of the policeman/woman, you have to stopp. If you see him/her sideways, you may drive. And here is may version of the little verse "If you see the back or chest, step on the brake and take a rest".

              I'm not sure how this is a better system than plod either making a 'stop' signal, or waving you on. I'm sure the Teutonic ambassador will be along to explain though.
