Early day motion expressing concern re: Loan Charge

A friend just emailed me this ... said I should write to my MP and ask them to support it.

Thought it relevant to post here.

That is exactly what we are all hoping for in here, does anyone know what happens to this motion? Is it taken seriously or does it need more MP's to support it?

Motions that attract a lot of MP backing - by putting their name to it - rise up the list of motions that may eventually be debated in Parliament.

So, yes, you should be encouraging your MP to back it.

EDMs rarely progress to having a debate in parliament but they draw attention to the issue being discussed.

A very small number have attracted large support but occasionally they have an impact like helping to bring down the Callaghan government in 79.

This is a credit to organised collective action. As an alternative to settlement there is the opportunity to coalesce and agitate.
This will highlight upon this insidious charge and despite language games - will show it is squarely a retrospective one. I would urge anyone affected to reference this in any meetings with their MP or approaches to them via social media

Thank you to the fellow members of the Loan Charge Action Group (LCAG) who helped organising this EDM: https://www.hmrcloancharge.info/

The text of the EDM on the UK Parliament website is here:
            https://www.parliament.uk/edm/2017-19/1239

We encourage everyone impacted by this to writing to their MP either asking for sponsorship of the EDM or at least adding their signature to support this.

It's easy and done electronically. Takes a couple of minutes. And can make all the difference!
