If the robot uses an accurate model of a human brain, it IS a human, except built with hardware rather than wetware.

Surely it would be hard to abuse a robot anyway.

They don't have feelings (why would you program a robot to screw up for no reason now and again because they were feeling bad), they don't experience pain (Why would you code them to feel pain, what use could it have?), discrimination against them would really have no effect as they would be programmed to peform a specific task.

All this rubbish about rights for robots is more socialist bulltulip thought up by a bunch of knobjockeys who have nothing better to do with their life than fiddle about with everybody else life just for the sake of it.

You're making the assumption that robots will be programmed deterministically. Theoretically they might evolve to experience feelings, pain and so on. After all these "experiences" are merely electrical impulses/chemical states in our brains.

But it is a mechanical creation. It would be able to turn off various sensors/kill unwanted processes therefore it could never feel pain either physical or emotional unless it wanted to.

Bearing this in mind you would not be able to abuse it as it could not react to the abuse unless it decided to, therefore it is in effect abusing itself, hence no case to answer and no rights needed.

You mean like humans always have the option to kill themselves if the going gets too rough? You're right, but only a small minority choose to. A sufficiently evolved robot may "feel" pain at having to turn any part of itself off.
Consciousness may have nothing to do with the physical substrate which gives rise to it.
