Where to go on holiday this year (real not trolling)

If I made any kind of NY resolution it was to make sure I take some decent time out this year, whether on a contract or not.

So where do the panel suggest? My current plan is Mexico for a week of culture/exploration and a week of diving/eating/relaxing etc.

    Any other ideas or recommendations?

Too old for 18-30/chav stuff but too young for saga.

How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

Places I enjoyed, but then I do like the exotic:

Lamu, Zanzibar off the Tanzania coast, also Kenya coast and safari
            Goa or Kerala in India
The Keys in Florida (don't drive from Miami though, it's a pain)
Thailand (always good, don't take your other half!)
            Hard Brexit now!

Rio de janerio - fantastic place. I went without bothering to book a hotel in advance, just turned up and booked. Obviously if going with the mrs then advance booking is preferential.

I can definitely recommend Grand Turk island in the Turks and Caicos for that. One of the top diving locations in the world. Fantastic beaches. Superb food. Laid back locals and almost zero crime. No nightclubs or shops (there are shops but nothing that could mean a day to go shopping). I think you can pretty much have barbecues every night too, the hotels/bars seem to have a good rota in place to make sure there is always one going on.
