    The verb "to complement"

You have just been complemented by NCR

Cash machine manufacturer NCR has announced plans to cut 650 jobs at its plant in Dundee.
    ...
NCR, the city's second largest manufacturing employer, opened a plant in Budapest just over a year ago because it said that the Dundee factory was working at capacity. It said at the time that the Budapest operation would "complement" the Dundee factory.
So that's what "to complement" means.

I'm amazed they've got anyone left to sack in Dundee. I used to work for NCR (back in the days when 20Mb was a large hard disk, and COBOL was King) and they always seemed to be getting rid of the workforce at the Dundee printer works.

IIRC the factory was on the same industrial park as the Sinclair C5, Vidor batteries and Nimslo 3D camera works - where are THEY now?
