Worked out in Antigua for a while. I would never live there. Assuming that most Caribbean islands are the same, the basic reason is that all the the entertainment is run by the hotel complexes, and if you're not a guest, you've got a 15 foot high fence to scale as well as big dogs and men with guns to outrun to get in.

So what are you left with? One cinema with one screen in the middle of the capital (St John's in the case of Antigua) which is full of old blokes boozing, smoking and chatting away. And loads of beach bars.

So basically, the only thing to do for leisure is to drink yourself to death. Or, if you're a millionaire, you can sail your yacht round the islands with all the other rich idiots and drink Pimms.

Couldn't you just walk through the main entrance?

How do you guys manage to get contracts in these exotic locations. Is there a special jobsite for this?

Been out in the Caribbean myself (see other thread), Hotels do allow non-guests in. Helps if you have some money to chuck at them though as they will charge you entry fee (although depends on the events) and there will be a time limit, eg out by 1am.

Get the right contacts and you can work any where

I just had an old contact phone me in a panic cause he needed a technical consultant in the Caribbean that weekend. It was Wednesday when he called me
