I went thru this 2 years ago and after all the research I chose Plasma. I actually don't remember why and don't even care, except that I am perfectly happy with it. Well, apart from the fact that I paid £2k and it's now selling for £1k (the latest version at that!).

I believe Plasma's will provide better picture quality overall, esp. for sports and fast moving images. LCDs might be good for a PC monitor for example.

Why not just hold out for Laser TV, though that could be a couple of years off.

I think plasma has the best response and quality for larger screens over 37" for the price. (or it was when I bought a few years ago).

2 years ago plasma was the way to go but LCD technology has come along way since then and its swings and roundabouts really, I just bought a Toshiba 37WLT68 LCD and I am very impressed with it so far, go to descent shop that has comparable models and get them to set up a HD source and play around with the settings yourself as they are usually straight out the box on factory settings which are not very good.

contrast ratio is what can really make the difference between the two. My LCD 40" screen has a contrast ratio of 6000:0, what that really means the colour black really looks black, not grey. Plasma screen typically have good contrast ratio however the LCD screens are really coming along, and plasma screen are more prone to screen burn.

More importantly how many of you wrote off these "big monitors" as a company expense?

I want one so good that it makes TV worth watching
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

I've thought of doing that, but I suspect that the IR have wised up to that one

It used to be plasma, but LCD is better now. It will cost though, dont skimp on a cheap brand, I bought a Sony Bravia, really, really good especially with HD input.
