    Slightly old news but...

Peter Hain, Northern Ireland Secretary, seems to think its a good idea that 2/3rds of city workers large bonuses should be given to deprived areas:

Has got to be one of the most stupid things I've heard this year

Depends what you mean by stupid, if it gains even a few votes for Labour it will have achieved its purpose.
Why the avatar? Well anyone accused of plotting against Gordon Brown can't be all bad.

Yes, one of the clearest signs yet that NL is actually OL, has run out of ideas, and is stirring its ‘70s socialist roots. There is no rationale in this thinking. Yes the bonuses may seem obscene to some, but to dumb it down, bring it down to the lowest common denominator and say the bonus earners should be penalised, I find the thinking very obtuse. I also find it scary as this govt is not above ‘reframing’ this idea to affect us all, stockbrokers or not. NL must be voted out.

That'll be the same Peter Hain who although he says he is a man 'of principal' actually pretty much changes his position according to whichever way he thinks the wind is blowing; and certainly doesn't practise what he preaches

IMO, the worst kind of NuLab ******.

I think the size of the bonuses are obscene, but I am in favour of the free market.

I believe the bonuses are taxed (is that true) so a contribution is being made.

If anything I would force the companies to pay the same percentage bonus to all workers who have contributed to the profits if it is paying bonuses.

            It is a difficult one.

I read somewhere (and it was a while ago) that the difference between the highest paid and lowest paid within a company has increased massively over the years and is getting back towards the days that started the Labour party. Millionaire boss with breadline staff.
It would be quite ironic if that happened under New Labour.
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

Michael Meacher. Had the audacity to attack 2nd home owners a few years back.

Turns out he's got 8 or 9 properties himself.

Snouts in the trough all of them.

It is a consequence of globalisation. Would have happened under any party.

Yes, dumb. He is well known for not having a clue.

Where does he think the UK's wealth comes from? It certainly isn't his party's fiscal policies!
