          I used to do that, but I found that mashing makes it all a bit watery. I now cut them together in a steel pan with two knives.

                Swede is turnip. Turnip is swede. Apart from a slight difference in colour they're the same!

                Why make an effort to mash them together? Its lik saying "should I mash 2 turnips together".

                As long as you put plenty butter in it and smother it with gravy, who cares!
