So how do you get telephone services at the moment?

I think Orange do a decent deal. Free internet with Orange subscription. (don't quote me).
I am not qualified to give the above advice!

              why not
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Three options I can think of:

                  1. via a mobile phone operator, usually relatively expensive and not fast enough for large downloads so no high quality porn I'm afraid. Orange were offering a good deal for PAYG sim customers last year (may still do), which was fast enough for general surfing.

                  2. BT line but go via a LLU provider (such as Bulldog) and get the line installed either free (they sometimes have special offers) or a lot cheaper than BT. The line will still be installed by a BT engineer but you won't feel as shafted afterwards.

                  3. Offer to set up a wireless network for a neighbour. Get them the latest mimo or 'long range' router and as long as you're not living in an old building with thick brick walls you'll be able to connect up at your leisure. Don't forget to set up security so no-one else can hack into it, hogging your bandwidth

CHeers PAH i think it'll be the BT route, just wanted to steer clear of that monopoly but its unavoidable

i've tried jumping on the neighbours router but the gits arent as thick as they look, they actually have security setup
