33 killed and 26 injured at a university campus in Virginia

At least 20 people, including the suspected gunman, were killed in a shooting rampage at Virginia Tech university on Monday.

Shocked and horrified but it is the second time in less than a year that the Virginia Tech campus has been closed because of a shooting.

    Deja vu
    Numbers, numbers, numbers????

In the year 2006 the USA had over 16,000 killings.

    What a bloody mess!!

These occasional acts of mass killing are just the tip of the iceberg.

31 students, 1 guard and the assassinator himself.
It's the most devastating rampage in the history of US.

    It's global warming innit.
Insanity: repeating the same actions, but expecting different results.

It's not the gun, it's the people. Gun ownership is widespread in, for example, Belgium and Switzerland, but gun-related murders no more common than in e.g. the UK or Germany (less than 100 a year). And gun control laws in European countries (incl UK) and Australia and New Zealand have seemingly had little effect on gun crime: they always were less vilent countries. The USA always was a violent country.

(widespread gun ownership correlates with higher suicide rates, but not higher murder rates).

I think the statistic you should be looking at is the proportion of really stupid people owning guns. In the US that is quite high since there are a lot of guns and a lot of really stupid people.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

              I preferred version 1!

How many died as a result of terrorism?

How much money gets spent on the 'war on terror'?

                  Mismatch?

How many times have I heard that!

Look at it logically - without the gun the "people" couldn't shoot each other, could they! Some UK gangs have got hold of guns, and they shoot more people than those who haven't.

The availability of guns in an argument is much more dangerous than knives or baseball bats.
