Premium Bonds... what a load of tulipe

How can a 30k "investment" not yield a single prize in 3 months????

They are not really tax free either. The rate of return relative to commercial deposits has been reduced to more than make up for the tax. Like everything from government, a total fraud.

Suralan advertises them so they must be kosher.

My parents have a £10k investment and they won a £1000 prize and a couple of smaller prizes in their first year. You're not going to get 10% on the high-street anywhere.

And neither will the average "investor" in premium bonds.

That £30K could be used as a deposit on a BTL property.

NS&I index linked - 10.25% gross for higher rate taxpayers, so the ad says at the moment ( http://www.nsandi.com/products/ilsc/index.jsp ), probably unbeatable at the moment if you are happy to tuck it away. Even better than 'boomed' house prices !

Limited to £15k per person methinks, but good tax-free rate nonetheless. Am awaiting BoE rate rises before going for a fixed rate bond.
