Election results are good - Blair!

Somehow he keeps a straight face (BBC latest)
Tony Blair "You always take a hit mid-term, but these results provide a perfectly good springboard to win in the general election."
    Let's review that:

Councils: Labour have lost 200 seats so far

Wales: Labour have lost overall control

Scotland: Labour have lost overall control , and it's their worst result up there for over 50 years

Popular vote in councils: Conservatives 41%, Labour 27%, Lib Dems 26%

And true to form for anything designed by Labour, the new voting system in Scotland was a farce, with over 100,000 spoiled votes from people who couldn't understand the voting forms!

Probably thought they were smart and tried doing what Bush did in Florida. Turns out they aren't smart enough.

How many seats lost now, and they claim it's not as bad as they thought it would be.

Were they expecting a white wash per chance?

308 so far (tories have gained 579)

I'm not sure what Blair expected, but there's not much left for them to lose! All they'll have left are the dregs who'd vote for a donkey as long as it sported a red rosette.

          * These 308 (with more to come) are in addition to the 839 that Labour lost from the same set of councils in 2003.

          * On results so far from this half of the country, they are down to their last 1392 councillors (out of 6809).

          * In 229 of 312 councils returned so far, Labour only control 31 (tories now 111)

add to this that they have had a real kicking in all the other local elections, so they were defending an already reduced number.
Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

                I preferred version 1!

There are about 19,000 local council seats altogether, in about 400 councils I think. Anyone know who holds what across all of them now?

I have been back in Scotland for only a few months - and already I have seen the ending of Labours dominance as its their first defeat since 1959 in Scotland - and the destruction of the Scottish Socialist Party who failed to win a seat - here's to a Scotland of innovation and enterprise - a socialist free zone !

And - I did predict this scenario a few months back on a thread here - a one vote majority perhaps - but its still a majority.

Well done SNP for enidng the New Labour project !!!!

...and sent Blair homewards - to think again
