    Poor to pay less for fuel

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6637437.stm

    The poorest households should pay less for their gas and electricity, according to Energywatch.

    Three million households in Britain struggle to pay, says the energy watchdog, and it wants the government to force firms to cut their bills.

    It suggests the Energy White Paper makes companies introduce social tariffs to cut bills for the poorest while others paid slightly more.

    What about food? Social tariffs for food, water, transport, clothes, ....

    Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

      There is no such thing as poor. Drive around any impoverished estate in the UK and you will never seen so many Sky dishes. The definition of poor has changed over the last century. For me poor means, you are starving and homeless the fact that they should even have a luxury item such as a car surely means they are not poor.

        Poverty in this country is measured by the gap between the rich and the poor, it doesn’t matter how much our poorest people have as they will always be pleading bloody poverty and expect others to help them out, after all its only fair...

          poor = state of mind

          Many people equate being poor with wealth. Poor is really 'futurelessness', lack of confidence and lack of control over ones destiny. I would also add it is a lack of time - in which case poverty is rife.

              If I was poor in the UK today, and I got cheaper energy, more tax credits, a better state pension, and all the rest of the benefits, I'd be happy to stay poor!

              Why join the rat race? I can leave all the hard work to the rest of you lot!

                    I pay less anyway, place near my gig is selling Biodiesel for 79p a litre.

                    My 99 Passatt runs great on it, engine is quieter, fumes smell like popcorn and I am saving 14p a litre!
