    "In business, life sucks".....

........so said Surallan as he sacked Jadine for not performing because she was missing home and her daughter.

Despite enormous government attampts to regulate business to provide better work-life balance and family friendly policies, Surallan seemed to imply that the old adage applys; your career propects depend on whether you focus on work or family, but you can't have both.

What do others think of this telling revelation from Surallan?

I have no idea what this is about. Can you give a description or a link?

      Probably true for some jobs.

I was amazed that Tre didn't call that Kevin back in with him, and he didn't slag either of his teammates off either. Is he tactically naive?

It will be shouted down as un-pc ..... but i dont know why some people think they can have high flying, fast paced, high paid jobs - but also be an effective parent.

Even a 'traditional' man has to make some kind of sacrifice between providing for his family, and actually 'being' there - its always going to be even harder for a woman.

Theres alot of pressure on people to be good at mutually exclusive things in this day and age - you cant have your cake and eat it.

Alan Sugar, your fired due to being a blagger and for you fear of razors.

I think I'd prefer Sir Alan over those tw@ts on Dragons Den any day.

              Duncan Bannatyne anyone?

does family or work come first?
For me there is no competition my wife and daughter come 1st.
I have resigned to the fact that I prefer to spend more time with my family and possibly work a few more years then if I concentrated on getting more qualifications, training etc.
Contracting is perfect for me. 8 hrs if possible and then out the door.

What made it worse for Jadene though was that she is a single parent.
