    disposing of monitor

How can I responsibly get rid of a big old CRT monitor? Some kind of hi-tech rag and bone man would be appreciated!

If it is still working, why not freecycle it:

My local dump has a place for TVs and monitors.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

        great minds think alike!
Freecycle was my first thought, but I had a look and there were loads of people offering them and nobody picking them up.

Just dump it down some alley when no one is looking.

(Might need to wipe the dabs off it first, or better still pop a bit of paraffin over it and set it alight.)

Try a few local charities instead.

One close to me will pick up monitors and PC's for £25 and then salvage bits to make semi-decent machines for the third world. (CRT monitors are turned in to TV's apparently)
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Leave it out the front of the house and see if some chav walks off with it. Never fails here.
