I'd hardly call the civil service a waste of resources - most of the workers are unemployable in any Private Sector business - so really it's just a way of keeping them off the streets and keeping the dole figures down...

I have to agree - I mostly work on Civil servant projects, and I am nearly always the clear "brain box" on site (which just about says it all!)

Most departments are like special needs nurseries.
