Brighton are to start allocating kids to schools in the area by lottery instead of their closest school.

How many extra rush-hour car journeys will result from that every day?

Surely not true, although I can believe it. Will end in traffic jams and tears.

. . . or lots of expensive, council-run school bus services?

Or a surge in demand for the local private education sector (inquiries up by 100% on this time last year according to the Beeb).

For a town full of gay and lesbians, just how many kids are there....or are there a lot of couples adopting African/Romonian/etc orphans?

All those who can afford to will move to the next borough where they can pick the school they want leaving Brighton with the "can't does[sp?]".

This policy will not work unilateraly.

it's only a pilot anyway. Once it all goes t*ts up they'll go back to the old method and forget all about it.

but the Brighton&Hove lesbians have lots of kids

Ironically Brighton's schools problem is largely caused by the happy-clappy, socially liberal London media influx who refused to send their kids to schools where the Whitehawk & Mouslecoombe kids go! Ex-Brightonians & locals will understand that one ; Brighton is now very socially & sexually segregated. Consequently schools were closed down due to lack of demand and now Brighton is one or two schools short. Liberal parents - dontcha just luv'em lol
