    Hotels when on contracts

Can't be bothered with a poll as it's not like we didn't have enough yesterday.

When away on contracts what sort of hotels/digs to people use? Do most get a flat for long term (+6 months) gigs?

For hotels, do people take the attitude that 'it's just a bed and a shower' and go cheapo B&B or do you go for the full-on loyalty card, pool and gym international chains? Oh, and do you blag the clients corp rate?

Answers, opinions, comments, chico abuse all welcome.

I choose rent if the gig is 6 months, nearly always cheaper than an hotel and somewhat less soulless rather than living out of a suitcase. Make it home from home and enjoy it.

Travelodge do £15 rooms if booked in advance. My MO is B&B for up to 6 months (or risk going mad), after that look for digs for which I use easyroommate.
I remember the good old days of this site when people used to moan about serious contractor related issues like house prices and immigration. How times have changed!?

All my gigs have been close to home, but with travelling thrown in, I tend to stay at hotels in Europe that are between €150 & €200 per night and charge the client. I also try to stay somewhere so I can build up points on my loyaty card.

Proper contractors live in squalid B&B's while "in country".
Your maximum accommodation budget is £17 per night (including breakfast).

The best I achieved was £13 per night including breakfast and ensuite in Kent

                If it's more than a month, I rent - otherwise cheapo B&B.
(Unless I'm working remotely more than about 30% of the time.)

I budget for £40 pn. Anything less is bonus but often I have to pay £50. Long term I manage to get en-suit for about £30.

There is too much bother renting a flat

Were there any long-term consequences to your health as a result?
