UK is chock full of tax dodging scum

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6227070.stm

Many of the UK's highest earners are avoiding income tax, figures obtained by the Evening Standard have shown. (no really? )

According to the newspaper, out of the hundreds of people paid more than £10m a year in the UK, only 65 are facing income tax bills.

Well I never, who would have thought it? The seriously rich are getting seriously richer and are not paying taxes.

Shouldn't that read "Many of the UK's highest earners are evading income tax"?

No, the rich are avoiding tax by structuring their tax affairs, residency, domicile status and by using government approved tax loopholes designed for the benefit of rich party donors.

For the love of Allah...as I have said a hundred times before, this country needs a flat tax regime where it costs less to actually pay your taxes than it does to avoid paying your taxes!

raising further question marks over whether or not the Treasury is getting all it is entitled to.
Hang on, if all these rich people are "legally" avoiding paying tax then the Treasury is getting exactly what it is entitled to!

It's time government stopped letting them off the hook of paying their fair share
Awe bless, havent seen the word "fair" used for ages!

A flat tax of less than 30% is not going to add up. And at that rate it will still be worthwhile jumping through the necessary hoops to to keep the income offshore and avoid it.

Don't knock us for doing exactly what you would do if you were in the same position.

Tax after anything like £100k pa should be 10%, no NI crap. This will be sufficiently low for rich folk to have no excuses to avoid paying tax, and if they do kick their asses to jail. But of course this won't happen since Govts want to look tough on the rich while actually hitting middle class people.
