    Studying

I read a few posts about contractors studying for MSc or MBA.

This has crossed my mind a few times over the years, and once again its back in my mind.

What i am having trouble with at the moment is trying to evaluate the ROI on spending 10k + on an MSc, and then assessing whether my market value will go up in the next 2 years, either in the contract world or permie world?

My advice, don't spend anything on fulltime. Pick a distance learning MSc or MBA, it won't cost you that much, and you would still work fulltime.
    I'm alright Jack

i think an MSc is something you would probably do for yourself and would only add value if in a specific field in which you specialise... robotics , electronics , aero nautics...

for bog standard dev heads...its experience that counts

          Just my opinion.

Most people who have interviewed me for a contract haven't a feckin' clue what an MCSE, CompTIA, CCNA, CNA or anything else related is!

Kramer's right, study for your own benefit but don't expect future clients to recognise it...its experience that counts

feck studying I'm going down to the tennis courts to get a few sets and then to the club house for drinks and a few games of pool.

I have a few academic qualifications but have never been asked to produce them so I'd say do it for interest but don't expect to get any monetary reward.

what if, i wanted to move on from being a contractor and get a permie position on more money that i can earn being a contractor.

would an MSc or MBA secure this.

this is what i am questioning at the moment.

Sounds like you need a Uni experience!!

Get yourself in a one year course and relax, booze up, get laid and … study if you have to.

Every morning I wake up and I feel a little fresher!!
