    First timer advice pls...

So, I'm a Software Developer/Programmer looking to start contracting.

I've worked full-time in the IT industry for 10 years and been a programmer for about 8 years.

Main Skills: .NET, C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, VB, ASP, SQL

What do you guys think my employability would be?
And what kind or rates could I command?

This would be for the Midlands and London areas.

    Cheers in advance.

    Ollie

With that sort of expirience you should get near market rates.

I say 'near' as some people would be hesitant to hire a first time contractor, so dropping your rates slightly in order to get the first contract is worthwhile.

Have a look here as a starting point...

What did you do for the 2 years you weren't programming?

I'm not sure that is classed as dancing

                    So what are market rates?
