In the past week I've had four agents try on the 'but we need two references' lark.. Random chance or is this an early sign that the market is going tits up ? Or maybe its just due to the summer holidays ??

Meryl Adams,
Jane Cruise
William Eastwood
etc etc
laugh at the poor devil wating time calling up the main number at the company where these made up people are meant to be and then when the agent gets mad and calls you back .. just say "they must have left the company .. sorry".
They waste your time, make sure that you waste theirs. -
Failing that. Why not be sensible?
Explain that you do not want your referees being bothered continuously and will submit references when you have the contract.

Money isn't everything!
Go to pub and have a few.
Home for sunday lunch.
Fall asleep on sofa for a couple of hours.
wake up relaxed and laze about for the rest of the day.
Go to work tomorrow keyed up and ready to kick butt.
Its the law, get to it

Backfired.
Looking for my next contract and an agent wanted a reference. It’s an urgent requirement and although I don’t normally supply references before interview on some occasions in the past I have and the whole process has been concluded in a day.
I phoned the referee and asked told him that if the agent uses him for any other purposes such as leads; please let me know.
The scum agent did exactly that and it backfired. The company that I referred him to blacklisted him and the company."A people that elect corrupt politicians, imposters, thieves and traitors are not victims, but accomplices," George OrwellComment

On my way, Sah!
To which Churchill climbs wearily into his banana coloured stuttgart special and roars through the Cambridgeshire countryside to his des res for breakfast with his cute and cuddly other half before leaping into the sack for the sunday morning special! To be followed by lunch at "The Ship".
