    Mancs to get congestion charge

It looks set to make the same amazing difference to traffic as it did in London:

It was supposed to be a consensus opinion i.e. 100% agree or nothing. Good old politicos making the rules up as they go along. UK Democracy in action!

BTW the charge zone will be bigger than london

The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

It's not going to be introduced for five years!!?? There won't even be enough oil left to run a moped by then. Duh.

Congestion charge is a great idea.

Why can't they roll it out nationwide and every journey costs a £10 no matter where you go. Gordon could do with a bit of extra cash for his "investments" in public services.

Oil all gone in 5 years? That will put an end to all this man-made global warming nonsense then!

I'm not too familiar with Manchester, but a CC would kill trade in the city centre. This is why other cities haven't rushed to copy London so far (as initially predicted).

The answer is quite simple: put a tax on parking in the centre of congested towns and cities, and put the profit towards park-and-ride and public transport.
                Cats are evil.
