    Circumference of an ellipse

Does anyone have a formula for the circumference of an ellipse please?

    Thanks

There is no simple exact formula.

And the competition was quite stiff!

That my dear boy is where you're talking bollox.

I have in fact made money out of a piece of code that draws circles and ellipses very quickly using just integers.

Did you have to calculate their circumference?

How else would you know how many pixels to plot?

The resulting consolation prize is the "Uncanny similarity to the first entry in Google relating to the question asked" prize:

                Google:
There's no simple exact formula for the perimeter of an ellipse. The exact formulas aren't simple, and we'll tell you how good the simple ones really are!

Thinking about it, I've just though of a way in which I could plot an ellipse outline using integers, with no understanding of how to calculate the circumference of said ellipse. But then this isn't the place for a geek p*ssing contest.

can't you just loop until done?

How do you know you've "done"?
