Windows Registry ?

I'm working on app that needs to determine the 'Shortdate' format in Regional Settings so I can validate dates entered accordingly. I'm devloping on NT but some clients may be on other operating systems. Will the registry item name i.e CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/International/SShortDate be the same on other OS's 95,98,XP, Millenium etc
