    Agents

In an email today - I wonder if anyone falls for this:

    Dear XXX

XXX is one of the UK's leading ICT and Business Change staffing companies. You have previously registered your details with us and from our records I believe that we have a position that may be of interest to you.

I have got a number of positions in the Java Market.
    3 x Java Developer
1 x Team Lead Java Developer
    4 x Technical Architect

Could you please contact me urgently on the details below with at least two manager contacts so that I can verify your skills.

    Regards,

The guy's trying to make a living. How do you think he's going to build his contacts?

    Just what is your problem?

In fact I have no problem with agents at all, most of them are nice people and easy to deal with. However, I do not like when "making a living" means lying and then mass-mailing that lie.

The dogs correct, what's your problem eh?

Don't you know today is National Be Nice to an Agent day?

I sent 15 managers contact details today. I've done my bit, why can't you?

Agents have expensive cars and fancy holidays to pay for. Don't be such a cruel b@stard.

I got almost the exact email from Euro-SomethingOrOther ... except for a different set of roles. Nice and original eh.

I had one phone me today about an amazing opportunity (not very progessive of them) and she started drilling me for information about who have i worked for in the past, have I got any interviews lined up, who with, how did my last role go, who was my manager, after a while I got bored and put the phone down on the poor agent.

            Oh dear lol

I had an agent once pump me for current managers' contact details. Can't tell you that until we're looking at a definite prospect, I said, you're just fishing. He laughed and said Yeah, but I've got a job to do.

That was cool. I was OK with that.
