    21st Century Politics

Labour supporters are attempting to block Boris Johnson's bid to be selected as the Tory candidate to challenge London mayor Ken Livingstone.

Two websites are trying to hijack the Tories' open primaries which give all Londoners - not just Tory voters - a say in choosing their candidate.

    Labour e-mail

Any London voter can take part in the Tory primaries - which are intended to boost interest in the contest - but they have to call a £1.50 premium rate phone line in order to register.

Labour supporters believe they can block Mr Johnson's selection - and ensure Mr Livingstone wins a third term in next May's poll - by voting for his less well-known opponents.

London Labour Party members are understood to have received e-mails urging them to register.

WTF is this all about and how does this help democracy?

If any of that is true, then what an AMAZING turnabout! New Liebour did all they could to destroy Red (now Blue) Ken. How times change, and quickly, too.

Ah but Golden Brown is more of a good old fasioned socialist at heart than Tony BLiar was. I suspect that Golden Brown and Red Ken have quite similar agenda's.
