    Weapon

Following on from another thread, what does the team think is an acceptable weapon to be armed with in case someone breaks into the house?

I have an ash mallet (used for knocking in cricket bats) next to my bed, but it isn't very long, and I want to replace it with something a bit more meaty.

Obviously a firearm is out of the question (kids in the house), so what sort of thing is acceptable for protection, and also not outside the rule of law.

I was thinking a decorative samurai sword, or maybe a crossbow.

I keep a flame thrower on pilot next to the bed at all times. Useful if you like to smoke in bed too.

I bought a Aboriginal War Club in Oz a few years ago - the ideal skelping instrument.

Perfectly balanced, aesthetically pleasing and you would definitely not want to be on the receiving end of even the lightest of whacks.

I thought we all owned shotguns
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

          You don't.

Shotgun certificate requires a passport type photo and you haven't got a head
Confusion is a natural state of being

I'd have thought you would have a good collection of diving knives.

The best one I have found is a rounders bat. Smaller than a baseball bat which in a house you couldn't swing anyway.

Maybe a spear gun. Your also a diver so could say it was "just lying around".
