    What was the motive

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/m...de/6959761.stm

makes you sick. What could possible be the motive of for the 11 year to die..... he ate all the penny chews, he won at top trumps ????

i hope they find them, and put them in jail for the rest of their lives.....or let them out give them a new identity and let us pay security to protect them for the rest of their lives. Either way we are going to pay for it.

    Moan over
Thats the way the cookie crumbles

Probably because they felt like it, they could do it (ie they had a gun) and they knew the law would not be able to touch them and the courts won't convict them.

If the guilty party was anything like the dreadful kids around here, the inevitable answer to "Why did you do it?" would of course be a mumbled "dunno. bored. nowt else to do...".

"Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime."

So what causes of crime have we been so tough on that we seem to be making it worse?

          Unbelievable.
It was indeed a similar event (James Bulger) that gave Tony Blair his chance to step into the public eye (tough on etc.). Plus ca change.

If you read Freakonomics, statistically the most effectively way to prevent crime is to increase the length of sentences so that doing the crime became too unattractive.

                European City of Culture 2008
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

Is that the sort of culture found in a Petrie dish?
