    Climate Change = Population Control

V.interesting discussion on 5live yesterday afto. Egghead chap was on saying look, no politician will ever mention this due to the links people will make to unpalatable activities but the biggest thing we can do to improve the conditions of the earth is to reduce the birth rate.
Every second, 3 people die but 6 are born. From 2.5 billion in the 1940's we are at 6 billion now and expected to be 8-10 billion in the next 10 years. There are an estimated 80 million non-planned births which if removed would go a long way to removing the surplus over deaths.
Virtually free and accesible contraception should be made available, without compulsion to as many people on the planet as possible.
People who never exist never produce carbon or use resources.
They won't say it but this is the cheapest and most effective plan of all

So their solution is to repress human instinct by dreaming up taxes. My solution is to reach for the stars and colonise space.

You don't want to cut down on the number born, we just need a decent war to kill a few adolescents off now and again.

Completely unaffordable - the earth just doesn't have the resources.

Unfeasible in our lifetime, unless you're one of Yoda's decendants. Peak Oil sounds like it's the end of us anyway.

          Go with the free blobs.

The idea has merit, just make certain it is between China & India....bonus we can supply weapons to both sides
How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think

I thought AIDS was supposed to sort the world population out? Still waiting...
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson
